Who is responsible

Rui Pina operates bichermaart.lu and decides how personal data is handled here. Write to hello@bichermaart.lu with any question about your data.

What is collected

When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We never see your Google password.

We store what you choose to add: your username, a short description, your city, an optional phone number, your book listings and photos, your wanted ads and the messages you send.

Our server keeps short lived technical logs containing IP addresses, used to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.

Why it is used

To let you sign in and stay signed in. This relies on our legitimate interest in running a members' service.

To publish your listings and pass your messages to the other member, which is the contract you enter into by using the site.

To email you when someone messages you. You can switch these emails off in your profile at any time.

To keep the site safe and lawful, including removing content that breaks the site rules.

What is shown to others

Your username, description, city, join date and active listings are public.

Your email address and phone number are never displayed publicly.

Who else sees it

Google, for the sign in step only.

Our hosting provider, which runs the server storing the database and uploaded photos.

Our email provider, which delivers notification emails.

Data is not sold, and it is not used for advertising or profiling.

How long it is kept

Your account and its content stay until you delete them. Deleting your account removes your profile, listings, uploaded photos, wanted ads and messages immediately and permanently.

Technical logs are discarded after a short period.

Your rights

You may access, correct, export or erase your personal data, object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.

You can correct your details and delete your account yourself from your profile page. For anything else, write to us.

If you believe we have handled your data wrongly you may complain to the Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD) in Luxembourg.

Cookies

We set one cookie, which keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the site to work, so no consent banner is required. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
