Trading safely
Meeting in person
- Pick a public place with people around, such as a station, a library or a busy café.
- Check the book before handing over any money. If it does not match the description, you are free to walk away.
Paying and getting paid
- Cash on pick-up is the simplest option for local trades.
- For shipped books, a bank transfer to a Luxembourg or SEPA account is normal. Wait until the money has actually arrived before posting.
- Never accept an overpayment followed by a request to refund the difference. That is a classic scam.
Warning signs
- Pressure to move the conversation to another app straight away.
- A buyer who offers far more than the asking price.
- Requests for your full bank login, card PIN or a copy of your ID.
- Links to payment or courier pages that you did not ask for.
